Black and Blue The Musical

Information about the live stage musical entitled "Black and Blue".

The musical "Black and Blu" celebrates the black music and dance culture of Paris in the 1920's and 1930's, the period between the two world wars. The musical was performed for the first time in Paris and it later played in New York City.

The musical "Black and Blue was concei ed by Hector Orezzoli and Claudio Segovia of Argentina

The musical was performed for the first time at the Chatelet Theater in Paris France in 1985. That production featured Sandra Reaves-Phillips.

"Black and Blue" opened at the Minskoff Theater on Broadway in New York City on January 26, 1989 and it closed on January 20, 1991 after more than 800 performances. This production won Tony Awards: best actress, best choreography, and best costumes.
